Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 1 September 2026
At Somebody.Cards, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, update your profile, or purchase products. This may include:
- Name and email address
- Mobile number, which you can use to sign in instead of a password
- Professional details and biography
- Profile photographs
- Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details)
When somebody taps or scans one of our cards, we record the tap: which card it was, how it was opened, and the IP address and browser the request came from. We use this to keep a count of how often your card has been used, and to spot cards being abused.
When you claim a card as your own, we also record the IP address and browser you claimed it from. Cards are claimed by whoever is holding them, so this is what lets us answer “who activated this card, and from where” if two people ever claim the same one.
We text you only if you have asked us to. Giving us a mobile number so you can sign in with it is not permission to send you messages: that is a separate box you tick, it is never ticked for you, and you can stop the messages at any time by replying STOP.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Process transactions and send related information
- Create and display your public professional profile
- Send you technical notices, updates, and support messages
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:
- Service providers who perform services on our behalf
- Professional partners if you opt-in to such sharing
- Law enforcement if required by law
4. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep your profile and account information for as long as your account is active.
If your subscription ends, or a free trial expires without a payment method, we keep your account and its data for 180 days from that date so you can return to it. Fourteen days before that period ends we send one notice to the email address on your account, naming the date your data will be removed.
After 180 days the account and its associated personal information — including your profile, links, contacts and any phone number or email address you gave us — are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Card tap records are kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically. After that we keep only the running total of how many times a card has been tapped, which carries no IP address, browser or location.
The IP address and browser recorded when a card was claimed are kept for 90 days from the date it was claimed, then erased. The card itself and the date it was activated are kept for as long as the card exists.
We keep one record after deletion: an anonymised note that an account existed, when it ended, and whether it ever became a paid subscription. It contains no name, email address, phone number or profile address, and cannot be traced back to you. We use it only to understand how our products perform over time.
You can ask us to delete your account sooner at any time by contacting support@somebody.cards.
5. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the security of your personal information. However, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
