How do I activate a card somebody gave me?

Tap the card on your phone, or scan its QR code. If the card has not been claimed yet you land on a screen headed Activate your card, showing the card's code, and it walks you through the rest — there is no app to install.

This card was set up by a club. Set up your profile and it's yours. Choose Set up my card and enter your name, email and mobile number. You don't need a code or anything else from whoever runs it - holding the card is enough. See "Somebody gave me a card from their club or team - how do I set it up?"

If you are already signed in, there is nothing to fill in: the screen says Add this card to your account?, shows which account it is about to sign the card over to, and you confirm in one tap.

Otherwise you get three choices. All three are always there; the one that leads depends on the card.

Create an account — the usual choice if the card is new and yours. You do not have to set a password: you can sign in afterwards with Google, or with a code sent to your phone. I already have an account — sign in, and the card joins your profile alongside any others you already have. I have an invite code — for a card set up by a team. If somebody at work handed you this card, this is almost certainly the one you want, and they will have given you a code. On a team card the invite code comes first and the screen says so — This card was set up by a team. Enter your invite code to claim it. If you see that, do not create a second account; use the code.

Once activated, tapping the card opens your profile. Every card linked to you is listed under My Cards in your dashboard.
